Meet Mohamed Hage, the Founder and CEO of Lufa Farms - a Montreal-based company with a mission to create a better food system. With an passion for entrepreneurship, engineering, and a natural talent for creating connections with experts in various fields, he has worked to build Lufa Farms from the ground up and actively oversees the day-to-day operations of the farms, the distribution center, logistics, and expansion projects. He’s out to innovate and automate by leading the charge to build a fully self-sufficient and highly scalable local food system. Lufa Farms has made waves in urban agriculture in Montreal, opening the world's first commercial rooftop greenhouse and four other sustainable farming locations, paired with a single-level indoor farm. With each new greenhouse, they hold themselves to an ever higher standard of sustainability and technical ingenuity growing dozens of vegetables, greens, and herbs hydroponically. All of their greenhouses run following their five principles of responsible agriculture: repurposing existing spaces, recirculating water, conserving energy, reducing waste, and using biocontrols instead of synthetic pesticides. They also partner with local farmers and food makers to provide their customers with hundreds of products through their online Marketplace.
