About Me

Hello, my name is Cassie and I am the Managing Director for Climate Solutions and Networks at C40, supporting cities to accelerate climate action in energy and buildings, food and waste, transport, urban planning, air quality and climate resilience. C40 is a network of mayors of nearly 100 world-leading cities collaborating to deliver the urgent action needed right now to confront the climate crisis. I have over 15 years of experience working in climate action and policy, including working at the Greater London Authority and UK government on smart energy, energy efficiency and climate adaptation. I have a BSc in Environment Geoscience from the University of Edinburgh and an MSc in Clean Technology from Newcastle University, my home town!

From the Ground Up: Building Resilient Cities

With over half of the world's population now residing in cities—and projections indicating that figure will near 70% by 2050—the urgency to redesign urban spaces is undeniable. Climate change has become a present reality, evidenced by more frequent extreme weather events that test the limits of our urban infrastructures. What are the foundational elements of urban resilience we must strengthen? How can we get our cities closer to net zero? And what bold actions can we take today to build cities capable of withstanding climate challenges for future generations?
