About Me

Hello, I’m Prof. Stéphanie Debette, neurologist and epidemiologist, executive director of the Paris Brain Institute (Sorbonne University, Inserm, CNRS, APHP). I previously served as director of the Bordeaux Population Health research center and the Vascular Brain Health Institute (IHU VBHI) in Bordeaux. I also served as VP for external relations at University of Bordeaux and chaired the board of directors of the ENLIGHT European university alliance. I led large collaborative genomic studies on stroke, cognitive traits, and imaging markers of vascular brain disease, aiming to decipher molecular mechanisms of brain aging and improve prevention and treatment of stroke and dementia (>300 publications). I have been supported by grants from the European commission (ERC, H2020, JPND) and France 2030 (RHU/IHU). I am grateful that my work was recognized by several awards, such as the Inserm Grand Prix, and had the privilege of being recently elected member of the national Academy of Science.
