Bernt Erik Westre

Bernt Erik Westre is the Chief Technology Officer of Minesto. Minesto is a leading ocean energy technology developer with an award-winning and patented product, generating electricity from tidal streams and ocean currents. The unique technology has the potential to unlock a new renewable energy source, adding predictable electricity production to the energy system and balancing the intermittency of wind and solar. Minesto was founded in 2007 as a spin-off from Swedish aerospace manufacturer Saab. Bernt Erik Westre has 25 years of experience from offshore energy projects, the first fifteen mostly from design, fabrication, and commissioning of semi-submersible floating oil and gas production and drilling facilities, before shifting to the renewable ocean energy industry a decade ago. Since 2017 Bernt Erik Westre leads Minesto’s Product and Technology development department and holds an M.Sc. in Naval Architecture.
