Finding the best early-stage startup in Europe

TechCrunch Startup Battlefield is headed to VivaTech in Paris to find and feature the best early-stage startups across Europe. In partnership with Michelin, Startup Battlefield Europe will showcase startups from across continental Europe working on cutting-edge technologies.

The 15 preselected startups will pitch their projects on stage at VivaTech in front of a jury of entrepreneurs and investors chosen by TechCrunch. After the first round, 5 startups will be selected to pitch on the main stage (Stage 1) at VivaTech. The winning startup will receive €25,000 prize money plus an all-expenses paid trip for two to San Francisco to take part in the famous Disrupt San Francisco Battlefield in September 2018.

The show will be live-streamed on TechCrunch for the rest of the world to tune in.

Michelin’s primary mission is to advance the mobility of our customers through unique experiences – providing them A Better Way Forward. The Company has a long history of driving innovation, including several pioneering tire and map technologies, and has been supporting the startup ecosystem for several years. We’re proud of the many successful projects with start-ups that we’ve already established with startups.

A few examples include: E Dai Bo, valet parking in China, Bookatable, online restaurant booking in all of Europe, Restaurantes.com, online restaurant booking in Spain, Campanda, a digital complement to the Michelin Experience offer, which extends a long-standing presence in camping guides and road mobility, Exotic Systems, a range of connected objects for the agriculture of tomorrow, Nextraq, an American company, provider of telematics solutions for fleet management.

When the opportunity to sponsor the Techcrunch Startup Battlefield came up, we immediately thought: what a great opportunity to declare our presence as a startup partner? And this year, Michelin will reward the best startup in Europe. Startups are nimble, focused and passionate. They are often motivated to improve mankind, and make daily life better on the planet – much like we are.
