Our Story

2016: Viva Technology held their first event

Founded in 2016 by Publicis Groupe & Les Echos-Le Parisien, VivaTech launched as a hub for startups and corporations to collaborate. “It was a crazy adventure, but the result exceeded expectations—45,000 visitors, 5,000 startups, and global speakers.” - Julie Ranty, Co-Managing Director (2016-2022)

2017: Macron's call to action: VivaTech!

At the second annual VivaTech, French President Emmanuel Macron launches the “French Tech Iniative”, to attract global talent, solidifying VivaTech’s role as a catalyst for global innovation.

2019: Creation of VivaTech Awards

VivaTech organizes a series of awards to highlight the diversity of entrepreneurs in the tech ecosystem, such as the Female Founder Challenge and the Next Startupper Challenge.

2019: Over 10k startup challenge applications

Double-digit growth for the VivaTech Startup Challenges with more than 10,000 applications received in 2019. Winners of the open innovation challenges were incubated by partners like LVMH, Orange, and Huawei.

2021: Zuckerburg & Cook take the stage

CEOs of major tech companies Mark Zuckerburg of Meta and Tim Cook of Apple attend VivaTech as top speakers.

2023: VivaTech claims place as top tech event

Breaking records with 150,000+ attendees, VivaTech secures its place as the leading startup and tech event in the world. “This is a tremendous reward for our teams' hard work and a testament to the vitality of Europe’s tech ecosystem and VivaTech’s unique role in it.” - François Bitouzet, Managing Director

2024: Induction of the Impact Bridge

VivaTech created a new space called the Impact Bridge in 2024, a 1,500m² space dedicated to positive impact, bringing together startups, innovations, and associations with environmental or societal projects.

2024: VivaTech becomes ISO 20121 certified

VivaTech achieved ISO 20121 certification, a key standard for sustainable event management. This milestone reinforces its commitment to integrating sustainability into every aspect of event planning and highlights its dedication to corporate social responsibility.
