Tokyo's Bold Ambition
The capital, Tokyo, aims to become ‘the world's most startup-friendly city’ by increasing the number of unicorns and new business launches in the capital tenfold over the next five years. The ambitious plan targets a surge in startups from approximately 10,000 to 100,000, with a hundred of these aiming to achieve unicorn status.
Financing Innovation
The Japanese government has allocated ¥10 trillion ($72.4 billion), with ¥100 billion ($734 million) designated for supporting Deep Tech-related startups and ¥300 billion ($2.2 billion) earmarked for drug discovery-related startups.
