Our Challenges

Infrastructure Resilience


Rebuilding Mayotte requires infrastructure that is more resistant to future climate events while respecting local environmental and geographical constraints. This challenge seeks innovative solutions for durable, adaptive, and sustainable construction.

Sustainable Access to Water and Energy


Mayotte faces recurring water shortages and energy insecurity. This challenge calls for solutions that improve access to clean water and renewable energy while promoting self-sufficiency and climate resilience.

AgriTech and Food Security


With limited arable land and an unstructured agricultural sector, Mayotte struggles with food security. This challenge aims to develop innovative farming technologies that increase local food production and resilience to climate change.

Circular Economy for Community Resilience


Mayotte depends heavily on imported goods, and waste management remains a challenge. This challenge seeks circular economy solutions that encourage reuse, recycling, and local production to strengthen economic and environmental resilience.

Smart Marine Conservation & Biodiversity Protection


Mayotte’s unique marine ecosystem is under threat from pollution, illegal fishing, and climate change. This challenge invites technologies that protect, monitor, and restore marine biodiversity while ensuring sustainable resource management.

★ Adaptability to Challenging Environments: Innovative companies that provide cutting-edge solutions while adapting to the unique challenges of Mayotte. Ability to navigate logistical, infrastructural, and environmental issues. A commitment to long-term impact and collaboration with local stakeholders is essential.

★ Technical and Economic Feasibility & Startup Readiness: Technically viable and economically feasible for Mayotte. Candidates should have a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) or functional prototype to show their solution's practicality and potential.

★ Social and Environmental Impact: Tangible and measurable impact on the sustainable and inclusive rebuilding of Mayotte, addressing key local challenges: resource management, economic resilience, and environmental protection.

★ Innovation: Technological or social innovations that effectively tackle Mayotte's unique constraints. Must bring new approaches or significantly improve existing ones to drive meaningful change.

★ Scalability: Deployable at scale and adaptable to various contexts, ensuring long-term viability. Solutions that can be replicated in other territories facing similar challenges will be favored.
